CHILI SAMPLES: chili booths will provide free chili samples to the attending public.
COOKING RULES:
CHILI: Any chili qualifies Red, Green, Vegetable, Chicken or Beef
■ Chili cooking begins 11:00am on Saturday, Oct 15th. Ingredients may be chopped prior to Saturday precooked meat will disqualify your team.
*NOTE: ANY COOKING OF RAW MEAT MUST BE DONE ON SITE!*
■ Beans, rice, vegetables, turkey, etc. are approved ingredients for this chili competition.
■ Chili must be cooked in your designated booth site and prepared in a sanitary manner.
■ One pint (16 oz.) of chili is required to submit for judging.
■ A minimum of 3 gallons (approx 32-48 cups) of chili must be prepared for distribution to the public
■ Each chili team is responsible for presenting their chili to the judging area at the official time for judging. Chili presentation will be judged.
■ Judges will be told they should vote for the chili they like best based on the following major considerations: flavor, texture, consistency, blend of spices, aroma and presentation.
■ You must be at least 21 years old.
GENERAL COOKING INFO
■ Participants must furnish their own cookware and utensils.
■ A cooking source can be a number of different methods including traditional propane camp stove or Coleman fuel.
■ This competition involves sampling by judges and event attendees, please be aware that each team's liability is based on ingredients cooked in your chili. Teams preparing and serving harmful ingredients will be held liable.
**IMPOTANT NOTE: NO OPEN CHARCOAL GRILLS ALLOWED
CHILI COOK-OFF SCHEDULE
Doors open at 7:30 a.m. for cook setup
9:00 - Cooks’ meeting
11:00 - Start stoves for Chili
3:00 - Turn in Chili for judging
3:30 - Counting of People’s Choice Ballots
4:30 - Chili Awards Ceremony
BOOTH RULES
■ Each booth is a 10' x 10' (approx.) plot of land - we provide nothing more than the space.
■ We suggest the following items for a basic setup: Propane camp stove or Coleman fuel, Class ABC fire extingster, chairs, table, canopy/text, decorations.
■ Booths do not have running water or electricity.
■ Your booth space in not intended for the parking of a vehicle.
■ Have fun be creative, we judge on the BEST BOOTH!
